SOUP GETS BIG STICK TREATMENT

One of two industrial sized stick blenders, together costing the Friends £935, is poised over a large container of home-made soup in the Catering Department. Catering Manager Jo Sheppard said home-made soups now replace those from a packet. “Both soups and pureed diets, created in large quantities from fresh produce by these blenders, are high in vitamins and nutrients. This encourages patients to eat, so helping in their recovery. Already the soups and purees are proving very successful, particularly with elderly and vulnerable patients unable to consume a large meal.” Pictured with Jo are Assistant Head Chef Bernie Nigh (left) and Chef Lincon Zondo.
