Children’s Ward Outpatients. Funding agreed of £3599.00 for Interactive Education Touch Screen
Friends Fund 2022 - Children’s Ward Outpatients Department
Funding agreed of £3599.00 for Interactive Education Touch Screen
The Trustees of the Friends of St Mary’s Hospital were delighted to agree funding of £3599.00 for an interactive screen for the outpatient’s department which will help children when attending the department for treatment. In the application it was explained that there was already something similar in the Children’s Ward and it is a great success and in high demand. It is great for calming nervous children, whilst waiting for treatment and especially those with special needs.
"Having the touch screen tablet in the waiting room of the children's outpatient's department has been a big hit with the children, and carers, who attend! Sometimes clinics over run and children and young people may have extra-long waits - so having entertainment makes the time go quicker and can make a potentially dull time more fun.
We have seen that children are calmer and more relaxed prior to their appointment, and this has been especially beneficial for those waiting for a blood test. Children seem to cope better with the procedure if they have had some time playing on the tablet first.
It's loaded with apps for all ages so there is something for everyone! It's great to see families enjoying a quiz or a game together and making the hospital experience a positive one!
Thank you to The Friends of St. Mary's for this invaluable piece of kit - it's brilliant!" Dionne Davies Play Specialist.
