Friends Fund £814.00 to help make the Children’s Department a more child friendly environment.

Children’s Outpatients department has recently been redecorated and it needed to have some child focused decoration to make it a more child friendly environment.  The team let us know that the department looked very clean and clinical, and they would also like to include some decoration in the clinic room that would be able to be used as part of a child development assessment (eg Can you count how many butterflies/ show me the blue dog?).   The idea was to link the designs from children’s ward to ensure that the environments are linked by the designs and then a child will recognise the designs and feel that both environments feel familiar.  It certainly looks wonderful now.

During our visit to the department to see the lovely designs, Miranda Webb (Play Specialist) let us know:

" We are so lucky to have these beautiful murals on the Children’s ward.

The children are captivated by all the characters as they enter the ward.

The beautiful artwork continues in the patient rooms making them feel more at home.

The children often make up their own stories about their favourite characters -

Thank you for everything.”
